Who Are You? And What Do You Want To Do About It?

You’re raising your kids, and the culture is raising your kids. You get them until they’re 18, and culture gets them after that. And your kids need a strategy for living. What strategy did you teach your kids? What strategy is culture teaching your kids?  Culture is teaching them to be consumers. And you were raised by the same culture, so you learned to be a consumer. What else did you learn?

Well, school taught you to be compliant so you could get good grades. And work taught you to be compliant so you could get a promotion. Now, hopefully you did some thinking of your own, so you learned from your mistakes. What lessons did you learn from your mistakes? How did you pass those insights on to your kids?

What do you want your kids to know as they head out into the world to become adults? Do you want them to be authentic? Do you want them to be courageous? Do you want them to have faith in their own talent? Do you want them to be audacious? Do you want them to live with integrity? Are they going to learn those skills in college? Did you? Are you going to learn those skills at work? Did you?

Which carries more weight in determining who your kids become, your words or your actions? Do you want to be authentic? Do you want to be courageous? Do you want to have faith in your own talent? Do you want to be audacious? Do you want to live with integrity?

What’s stopping you?

Do you have a strategy for living the life you want to live? Do you have a strategy you can teach your kids so they can live meaningful and fulfilling lives that contribute to their community? Or will your babies learn all of their strategies from the culture? Human beings will sacrifice everything for their highest priority. What priorities are your kids learning from culture? What priorities do you want them to make their sacrifices for?
